After working for several days on division, students jig-sawed into groups to each study a different story problem. They highlighted important information, identified context clues that showed us this was division, wrote equations, and drew pictures to solve. They then went back to their tables and took turns being the expert and teaching the rest of the group. It was a great day for our mathematicians! I believe we have some teachers in the making in this group! : )
