***AR Goals for the 1st nine weeks must be met by Wednesday, March 11.***
Accelerated Reader is a big part of third grade. There will be a Weekly Report attached to your student’s graded papers that goes home each Thursday. Among other valuable information, will be your child’s AR goal for the nine weeks and how many points they currently have earned toward that goal. Each student’s goal is different and is based off of data from their most recent STAR Reading test score and at least 30 minutes of daily reading. However, all students should be working towards the goal of passing tests with at least 85% mastery. Students have the nine weeks to reach their goals. If students obtain this point goal and maintain at least 85% comprehension rate, they will receive an AR pin at the awards ceremony. These students will also be invited to attend an AR party.
Although our class only goes to the library together every other week, students are given opportunities to go to the library daily, and may check out 2 library books at a time. They can also bring books from home or other libraries as long as they keep up with them.
Visit the site, http://www.arbookfind.com/UserType.aspx to determine if your books at home are AR, as well as the level and point value of the books.
If you have any questions concerning this, please do not hesitate to ask!
